Congratulations Mrs. Laura Campbell on becoming a SCISA Master Teacher
We are thrilled to announce that Laura Campbell has been awarded the prestigious title of SCISA Master Teacher! This honor, bestowed by the South Carolina Independent School Association (SCISA), recognizes educators who demonstrate classroom excellence and are committed to sharing their expertise with fellow teachers. The SCISA Master Teacher Program is in its 19th year. It continues to highlight the importance of the teaching profession by honoring those who go above and beyond for their students and colleagues.
To qualify for this esteemed recognition, educators must meet several rigorous criteria. Each nominee must be a full-time teacher at a SCISA school, hold either a master’s or terminal degree with at least five years of teaching experience, or a bachelor’s degree with ten or more years in the field. Additionally, they must demonstrate a dedication to sharing best practices and collaborating with peers to elevate education across their schools and beyond.
As part of the Master Teacher Program, Laura Campbell will now play an essential role in SCISA's professional development efforts. This includes presenting at the annual SCISA Teachers’ Fall Conference for the next three years, providing workshops, and offering professional development opportunities to colleagues at both their own school and other SCISA schools upon request. This leadership role ensures that the wealth of knowledge and experience of SCISA Master Teachers continues to benefit the wider educational community.
The nomination process for Master Teachers is comprehensive, requiring candidates to submit a portfolio of their work that includes tangible examples of collaboration with other educators. This portfolio, along with an unedited video demonstrating effective classroom practices, helps SCISA’s review committee ensure that nominees are truly dedicated to improving the quality of education across their schools.
In addition, nominees must provide five letters of recommendation: from themselves, a colleague, a student, a parent, and the head of school. Each letter highlights the nominee’s outstanding classroom contributions and commitment to sharing expertise with colleagues. The support of these individuals is a testament to the impact Laura has made on her students, school, and the broader educational community.
We are incredibly proud of Laura's achievement and look forward to her continued impact in the classroom and beyond. This recognition is a true testament to their hard work, passion, and dedication to excellence in education.
Laura Campbell is also piloting the CK Cybersecurity 1 course powered by AP. Hilton Head Preparatory School is the only school piloting this program in the state of South Carolina.
Congratulations, once again, on this well-deserved honor!
