Dr. Allison Frederick '12 graduated from Prep as an HHP Lifer. After graduation, she went on to pursue a degree in Medicine at Emory University in Atlanta, GA. While at Emory, she volunteered at Children's Hospital of Atlanta in the Education Library.
Her favorite job was taking the therapy Golden Retriever around to visit children. She was also an avid participant with "Best Buddies" which is an organization for autism. Through this program she met an adult with autism whom she spent much time with during her undergrad. She found this experience rewarding and was grateful for the opportunity.
Genetics and research are her two passions. To gain more knowledge she volunteered at Emory and studied galactosemia. While at Emory she and her research team of peers published two articles on this condition.
Upon graduation with honors she decided to continue research for a year with the goal of going to medical school and becoming a doctor. During this year of research she published more articles and spent her time studying for the MCAT.
Allison was accepted to the University of South Carolina Greenville School of Medicine in 2017. She served on the honor council and was chosen for the Alpha Omega Alpha Honor Medical Society Fraternity. She interviewed for a Surgical Residency and MUSC of Charleston matched with her in March of 2021. She graduated from medical school in May of 2021 and received the Eugene M. Largan III MD Award for Outstanding Student in Surgery. On July 1, 2021, Allison started her Surgical Residency at MUSC. The hours are long and the work is tough, but Allison achieved her lifelong goal of becoming a doctor. The HHP Community is so proud of you, Dr. Allison Frederick, M.D.!
