August 2022 - JT Marbut '14
J.T. Marbut, Class of 2014, attended North Carolina State University where he graduated Cum Laude with a B.S. in Electrical Engineering and a Minor in Business Administration in 2019. After graduation from NC State, J.T. attended the UNH Franklin Pierce School of Law where he graduated Summa Cum Laude this past May.
He received his J.D. in Intellectual Property Law.
Over the summer J.T. sat for the NC bar and is hoping to be admitted as a member of the North Carolina Bar Association in the coming weeks. In the meantime, he is already registered to practice before the U.S. Patent and Trademark Office.He will be working as a Patent Agent. Once he is admitted to the North Carolina Bar Association his title will switch to Patent Attorney.
J.T. says, " my time at Prep was instrumental in helping me to reach this point. The Prep community and its teachers were very supportive during my time there and helped prepare me for the success I've had in college and law school. In particular, Mrs. Dowell and Mrs. Webb-Browning provided me with a lot of mentorship, and are two of my all-time favorite teachers. I'm very thankful for everything Prep has given me, and I credit the Prep community for helping me to progress to where I am now!".
During his downtime, J.T. loves to ski! He enjoys backpacking up and skiing down Tuckerman Ravine, which is a glacial cirque on the face of Mt. Washington that is located in the White Mountains of New Hampshire and is the tallest peak in the NE. He and his longtime girlfriend recently moved from Concord, NH back to Raleigh, NC where he will work at Myers Bigel, P.A.
